Quarterly Medical Camp Serves Over 300 Families

Our first medical camp of 2026 was a tremendous success! In partnership with local healthcare providers, we offered free health screenings, consultations, and medications to over 300 families in Oyugis and surrounding communities.

Services provided included general health check-ups, blood pressure and diabetes screenings, dental check-ups, eye examinations, and distribution of essential medications. We also conducted health education sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.

"This medical camp was a lifeline for many families who cannot afford regular healthcare," said Dr. Akinyi, one of the volunteer physicians. "We identified several cases that required urgent follow-up care, and we're grateful to be able to connect these families with ongoing support."

Special thanks to our medical volunteers, pharmaceutical donors, and all who made this event possible. Our next medical camp is scheduled for April 2026.

50 Widows Graduate from Comprehensive Skills Training Program

We celebrated a major milestone as 50 widows graduated from our intensive 6-month skills training program. The graduates received training in tailoring, hairdressing, soap making, and small business management.

Each graduate received a starter kit with essential tools for their chosen tradeโ€”sewing machines for tailors, hairdressing equipment for beauticians, and business materials for entrepreneurs. Additionally, all graduates are eligible for microloans through our partnership with local microfinance institutions.

"I never thought I could run my own business," shared Mary Atieno, one of the graduates. "This program gave me skills, confidence, and hope for my family's future. I'm already receiving customers for my tailoring services!"

The graduation ceremony was attended by local leaders, donors, and family members. Applications for the next training cohort will open in March 2026.

Back to School: 200 Children Receive Educational Support

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we successfully provided back-to-school support to 200 vulnerable children for the final term of 2025. Each child received school fees, a complete uniform, shoes, school bags, and a full set of learning materials.

This initiative ensures that these children can attend school with dignity, free from the embarrassment of torn uniforms or missing supplies. For many families, the cost of school fees and materials is prohibitive, forcing children to stay home or attend school irregularly.

"My son was on the verge of dropping out," said Grace, a widow and mother of four. "Heart Of Care Foundation gave him a second chance. He's back in class and doing so well. I'm forever grateful."

We're currently raising funds for the 2026 school year. To sponsor a child's education, please visit our donation page.

New Water Well Brings Clean Water to 75 Families

Clean water is a fundamental right, yet many families in rural Oyugis walk miles each day to fetch water from contaminated sources. Last month, we completed construction of a new community water well that now serves 75 families.

The borehole provides safe, clean water year-round and has dramatically reduced waterborne diseases in the community. Women and children, who traditionally bear the burden of water collection, now have more time for education and income-generating activities.

"Before this well, my children missed school to help me fetch water from the river," explained Jane, a local mother. "Now we have clean water just minutes from our home. This has changed everything for us."

We're planning two more water projects in 2026. Each well costs approximately $10,000 and transforms entire communities.
